Aine Venables creates contemporary mixed- media prints. Her palette is generated from a variety of printed materials such as dust-covers and mid-century graphics. Aine’s work has a strong narrative element which explores location, identity and belonging. She often uses maps of places that have a specific importance in her life or to the narrative of the piece.
The artist uses traditional printmaking techniques (such as screen print and monoprint) alongside more contemporary digital methods as part of her creative process. It is the interplay between these two reproductive elements that makes these unusual juxtapositions possible.
Aine works from her studio near Hay-on-Wye and often shows at the Literary Festival with the obvious links to books and narrative, but she also exhibits across the UK. Aine teaches on the Illustration BA and the Foundation Course at Hereford College of Arts. All her prints are limited editions.
