Ryan Young is a Scottish fiddle player and musician from Glasgow; a traditional fiddler playing strathspeys, reels and jigs, a young violinist who brings inventive ideas to traditional Scottish music.

He has gained international acclaim for his wonderful fiddle interpretations. His musical focus is concerned with breathing new life using his unique, trademark approach into age-old and forgotten Scottish tunes. His fiddle artistry is characterized by fresh melodic innovations, an infectious rhythmic energy, and an impressive range of dynamics and precision. His signature sound takes the audience on an emotional and adventurous journey with each performance.

Ryan boasts an impressive academic background, having studied for his degree and his Masters at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He has earned recognition as a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards on two occasions and was twice a finalist in the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of The Year competition.

Tonight, Ryan is joined by guitarist and fellow former Scottish Conservatoire student Gillie O’Flaherty who hails from Ullapool in the North West Highlands. Gillie is a fine exponent of traditional music and brings a matching passion for bringing a new perspective to the music of Scotland.

Don’t miss these two fine fellows and their razor-sharp precision and remarkable “take” on traditional Scottish music, bringing it bang up-to-date with a vital and refreshing make-over. An evening which offers an evocative journey to elevate the soul. Book good and early!
